Daejeon & Gwangju·South Jeolla Province Selected as Software Convergence Clusters

(SEOUL=NEWSIS) The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning announced April 27 that Daejeon City and Gwangju City·South Jeolla Province have been selected as software convergence clusters.

When selected as a software convergence cluster, the city will receive a total of KRW 10 billion for a maximum five years (KRW 2 billion per year). The Ministry plans to designate two more software convergence clusters by 2017 to have a total of ten such clusters.

Daejeon city suggested an industrial innovative cluster connecting the Daedeok Science Town and Daedeok Techno Valley.

Gwangju and South Jeolla Province proposed Bitgaram Innovation City as the center of the cluster reaching out to the Western region (Mokpo, Yeongam) and Eastern region (Suncheon, Yeosu, Gwangyang) of South Jeolla Province and Gwangju region (Songam, urban high-tech industrial complex).
