According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Daejeon's agricultural technology center was designated by the Rural Development Administration as a training institution for nurturing insect industry experts.

Following the designation, the center will organize an insect industry research group in November.

The center plans to provide 'insect industry academy' training courses and set up a demonstration town for commercialization of edible insects from next year in a bid to nurture Daejeon as the hub of the insect industry.

Daejeon became the first metropolitan city and 6th city in the nation to have a training institution for insect industry experts. It also laid the foundation for the city's initiative to strategically develop the insect industry.

Daejeon expects the city will be able to meet demand for specialized education in the emerging insect industry and boost rural household income.
