(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) The 2016 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2016 Daejeon) will be held at the Daejeon Convention Center in Daejeon, Korea during 9 to 14 October, 2016.

Around 2,000 robotics experts from 55 countries will gather at the event to take part in various academic programs, including 33 workshops and 14 forums. They will also present and share 830 academic papers.

A total of 33 education institutes and research centers from home and abroad will set up around 40 exhibition booths to display latest technology trends. Entertainment events including autonomous drone racing and robotic grasping and manipulation challenge will also take place as part of the conference.

IROS is an international conference attended by global scholars and business people and is regarded as the most prestigious event in the field of intelligent robots.

The first IROS was held in Tokyo, Japan in 1988. The IROS 2016 Daejeon marks the 29th of the event and second event held in Korea following the IROS 1999 hosted by Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.
