According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Daejeon Metropolitan City announced its achievement of the Happy Economy 123 Project, the city's main economic policy.

Total number of employees in the regions increased to 773,000, up 5,000 compared to the first quarter, according to the city.

As of last month, the number of venture companies in the city totaled 1,214, rose by 127 from March last year.

Increased support fund amounting to KRW 300 billion and on-site business services helped more companies started business, the city explained.

Amid tough external business conditions due to sluggish global economy and Brexit crisis, the city's exports climbed USD 29 million month-on-month to USD 327 million.

Although it failed to meet its plan to generate 4,000 jobs from 100 companies, the city created around 3,500 jobs by attracting 72 companies, slightly lower than its original target.
