According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Daejeon Metropolitan City announced that it will invest KRW 8 billion through 2020 to foster the nano convergence industry.

The city plans to carry out the 'Tech to Business Nano Convergence Research & Business Development Promotion Project' in cooperation with the Nano Technology Research Association (NTRA), which established a nationwide network with Korean conglomerates including LG and Samsung.

In a bid to strengthen global competitiveness of the city's nano industry, Deajeon plans to support companies who have technology but struggling to commercialize and sell their products.

The NTRA will organize the initiative and the National Nanofab Center, Daejeon Technopark, and a number of research institutes will take part.

Eligible companies are nano technology companies based in Daejeon. Application is available at the website of the NTRA (www.nano-t2b.net).

Selected firms will be provided with comprehensive support for technology upgrade, product sophistication, and sales promotion through networking with domestic and international companies.

Daejeon has 269 nano technology companies as of the end of 2014. The companies' total number of employees are 5,040, third largest in the country after Gyeonggi and Seoul.
