Daejeon Visited by Over 10,000 Foreign Medical Tourists in 2016

According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) The number of foreign medical tourists to Daejeon surpassed 10,000 for the first time since the city launched its medical tourism project in 2009.

According to the city on April 30, 1,897 foreigners visited for medical reasons last year, up 34.6 percent from 2015.

Revenue from medical services to foreign tourists recorded KRW 25.7 billion, a 41.2 percent increase from the previous year.

Since 2009, an aggregate number of 40,712 foreigners visited Daejeon as medical tourists, who spent a total of KRW 83.2 billion on receiving treatment.

Per medical tourists, KRW 5.83 million was created in added value, KRW 2.36 million from medical treatment, KRW 1.37 from sightseeing, and KRW 2.1 million from co-travelers.
