According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON Yonhap News) Daejeon has launched a project to build a new international exhibition and convention center in the city.

The city announced May 18 that it has passed the interior ministry's central investment screening process, and secured a KRW 1 billion budget for the project.

A total of KRW 95.4 billion will be spent on building the new center on the current Daejeon Trade Exhibition Center site spanning 40,970 square meters of land in Doryong-dong, Yuseong-gu.

The current Daejeon Trade Exhibition Center building, a temporary structure raised for the 1993 Daejeon Expo, will be demolished for reasons of safety.

According to a city government source, "when it opens the International Exhibition & Convention Center, along with the existing Daejeon Convention Center, will make Daejeon the greatest MICE (meetings, incentives, conference, exhibitions) industry city in central Korea."
