(DAEJEON=Newsis News) Pai Chai University is setting out to pursue international cooperation projects with Souphanouvong University of Laos on a full scale.

On May 31, Pai Chai held a signboard hanging ceremony for the new Leading University for International Cooperation Project Team at its main campus in Daejeon, which was attended by the presidents of both universities and the Laotian Ambassador to Korea.

On the same day, a forum took place at the Future Creativity Building on how the two countries can further cooperate on training human resources and developing technology.

The keynote speech was delivered by the head of the Asia-Pacific Office at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) on "the Asian community and the cooperative relationship between Korean and ASEAN countries."

The speech was followed by various presentations, including on the role of Korea, Daejeon and Pai Chai University in official development assistance (ODA) efforts

Receiving KRW 1.6 billion in national funding, the project team will help Souphanovong University in Laos open a materials engineering department by 2021.
