KBSI to Open Korea's First 'Open Lab' in Daedeok

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Korea's first laboratory that is open 24 hours a day and all 365 days a year is scheduled to open in Daejeon.

Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) announced January 31 that it will be holding the opening ceremony for the 'KBSI Smart Open Lab' at its Daedeok headquarters on February 1.

The laboratory will featuring nine types of analysis research equipment: a high resolution field emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM), a scanning microscope (SEM), a multi-purpose x-ray diffractometer (XRD), a particle analysis system (PSA), a magnetic property measurement system (MPMS), a MALDI hybrid tandem mass spectrometer (MALDI-TOF), an ion chromatograph system (IC), a differential scanning calorimetry / thermogravimetric analyzer (DSC/TGA), and an element analyzer (EA).

KBSI Smart Open Lab will be open for use at any time of the day and year to maximize the accessibility of its users.
