(DAEJEON=Newsis News) According to the Daejeon Customs Service on Febraury 20, the cities of Daejeon and Sejong, and the province of South Chungcheong have collectively exported a total of USD 7.69253 billion in January, which is a 26.5 percent increase from the same period in 2017.
Imports also rose by 16.3 percent and reached USD 3.38337 billion, while the balance of trade surged by 35.8 percent to USD 4.30916 billion.
Individually, Daejeon and Sejong saw their exports decrease, but South Chungcheong's exports led the growth of the entire region, increasing by 30.7 percent from USD 5.576 billion to USD 7.289 billion.
By item, semiconductors took up the greatest share (43.7%) of all exports, followed by chemical engineering products (10.2%), petrochemical products (8.3%), ICT devices (7.4%), display panels (4.1%).
By destination, China topped the list (43.7%), followed by Southeast Asia (23.9%) and Hong Kong (17.9%).
