(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) A bridgehead has been secured for Bio companies in Daejeon area to make inroads into Boston, U.S.

Daejeon city announced that the Bio-Healthcare Association, during its visit to Boston accompanying Daejeon Mayor, signed an MOU with the Korean American Bio Industry Council (KABIC) located in Boston and Daejeon Techno Park on April 17 for training, R&D, personnel exchanges, and cooperation on holding an academic conference in the bio industry of two cities.

Chairman of KABID said, "We will strive to play a bridging role to ensure promising Daejeon bio companies to enter Boston market."

Daejeon city mayor said, "As the bio industry has the most growth potential in Daejeon, we will actively support the bio industry through selection and concentration."

Daejeon city plans to foster the bio industry as the core future growth engine by establishing a new bio cluster connecting about 280 bio clusters concentrated in Daedeok Innopolis with the Sindong and Doongok districts of International Science Business Belt.
