The chief of Yuseong District, Daejeon started to be on a tour to Silicon Valley, San Francisco to benchmark startup ecosystem and learn entrepreneurship. The senior level city officials visited ‘KOTRA Silicon Valley office’ who helps Seoul based SMEs and startups build up business networks in San Francisco, and ‘Korean Innovation Center (KIC)’, an incubating body providing technological support for startups in Korea who wish to tap into the US markets.

KOTRA Silicon Valley office pointed a vast pool of capable human resources centered around Stanford University, sufficient amount of venture capital to take a risk, a higher tolerance for failure, business networks out as the very driving force in Silicon Valley.

The chief of Yuseong District looked around a joint-venture business room inside the KIC building and moved to Stanford University. Meeting with Korean students studying in the world prominent academy to share industry- affiliated university finance sponsorship programs and a unique culture of entrepreneurship prevalent in school.

The chief said “We’ll find ways that can help our young and smart talents get to Silicon Valley.” These city officials also had a meeting with startups to play key role in the upcoming 4th industrialization in San Diego on Nov. 8.
