Coupang to establish 30,000 m2 logistics center in Daejeon
Coupang, the largest online retailer in Korea, unveiled its plan to establish a high-tech logistics center near Namdaejeon General Logistics Complex in Daejeon City in 2021. City mayor and the E-commerce giant signed an investment MOU on May 7 for the new facility, unfolding the details of the masterplan; a KRW 60 billion worth of high-tech logistics center that will nestle into a 30,319 ㎡ site within Namdaejeon General Logistics Complex by 2021.
Coupang also announced its local hiring plan to add more than 300 new jobs. By forming a limited partnership (SPC), Coupang will pool their money to invest in property purchasing and development sooner or later.
Once the construction project is over, the new high-tech center appears to serve as a main retail business hub, a giant fridge storing frozen food and ingredients to be supplied nationwide, which is believed to be the key growth driver of Daejeon.
