DAEJEON < invest Korea

According to Yonhap News,

Daejeon-si, which is scheduled to host the 2022 United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Congress next year, signed an MOU online with UCLG headquarters, located in Barcelona, Spain on July 15.

The two agreed to actively cooperate on the matters of selecting UCLG World Congress theme and programs, promotion plan, the scale of event venue and required human resources, and financial issues.

Members of an organizing committee, launched on July 1st, will visit UCLG headquarters in September to discuss implementation plan in detail.

The UCLG World Congress will be held in a venue close to Daejeon Convention Center on October 3-7 next year, attended by city leaders from about 140 member countries, and internationally renowned figures from UN, UNESCO, and UNDP, among others.

The 2022 Daejeon UCLG World Congress is the largest-scale international event to be hosted in Daejeon since the Daejeon Expo in 1993

Daejeon's mayor said "we will successfully host the event, and turn it into a chance to promote Daejeon internationally."
