According to Yonhap News,

Daejeon City, Sejong City, and North and South Chungcheong Provinces announced that they would join forces to build the Chungcheong region into a megacity of artificial intelligence and metaverse.

The heads of four city and provincial organizations, National Assembly members, and representatives of KAIST, ETRI, and KISTI made such a declaration online on October 29.

The Chungcheong region is planning to build a single economic zone by discovering a common growth engine, focused on AI and metaverse.

They are preparing a preliminary feasibility study on a project that studies and applies key technologies of AI and metaverse to major regional industries.

An official from Daejeon-si said, "Daejeon is a center of Korea's research capabilities," adding "we will support to enable key technologies AI and metarverse, developed by Daejeon, to become first available for Chungcheong region."
