Daejeon-si announced on December 26 that it had attracted the 28th International Conference on Medical Image Computing & Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCA), scheduled to be held in 2025.

It is a large-scale annual international academic conference in the fields of medical imaging, artificial intelligence, and medical robot-intervention held by touring continent. It is the first time that Korea hosts this event. About 2,000 experts from home and abroad are expected to participate.

Academic presentations, workshops, and exhibitions will be held on the medical imaging technologies such as medical image processing, artificial intelligence and computer-assisted diagnosis, and on the latest technologies used in the medical field, including medical robotics and telemedicine.

The city set up the committee to attract the MICCAI 2025, led by the Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise (DIME), and competed with Taipei of Taiwan, Shanghai of China, and Auckland of New Zealand.

Daejeon is said to have received high marks from the judges by planning various additional events and KAIST special programs utilizing biotechnology and medical technology research infrastructure, science complex, Hanbit Tower, and cultural facilities of the zone scheduled for international conference complex.
