According to Yonhap News,

'Hydrogen Industry Full-Cycle Product Safety Support Center' that tests and evaluates performance and durability of various hydrogen products opened in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon on February 28.

MOTIE held the opening ceremony together with Daejeon-si and Korea Gas Technology Corporation (KOGAS-Tech), and started the operation of 'Hydrogen Industry Full-Cycle Product Safety Support Center', which will support performance improvement of hydrogen parts and products, and technological competitiveness enhancement of domestic companies.

MOTIE planned the project to build this Center pre-emptively in 2017, before the pursuit of hydrogen economy in earnest, in order to strengthen the technological competitiveness of domestic hydrogen products and parts. It invested KRW 25.1 billion in total with Daejeon-si for 4 years starting in 2018.

5 organizations including Daejeon Technopark, Korea Gas Technology Corporation, Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), and Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) participated in consortium, while the management is commissioned to KOGAS-Tech.

The Center is built in the scale of 2,194㎡ in total floor areas, on the land area of 15,479㎡. It is made up of the hydrogen part test building and office building, and centered around high-pressure hydrogen test facility (120MPa at maximum), equipped with 18 test facilities and 8 test labs.

The Center is planned to test and evaluate the performance and durability of various hydrogen parts and products including parts for hydrogen charging such as valve, compressor, charger, hose, and hydrogen generation system and water electrolysis, and provide technology support necessary for commercialization and development of hydrogen parts and products from design to commercialization based on the test and evaluation data.
