Over 50 years of age, the Daejeon Industrial Complex has begun to transform into a digital & low-carbon future manufacturing space.

On Feb. 24, the city held a launching ceremony for Smart Green Industrial Complex Project Center, together with Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Chungcheong Division, at the Daejon Industrial Complex.

As selected in the competition by the MInistry of Trade, Industry and Energy, it secured government funding of KRW 62.6 billion. The city plans to inject a total of KRW 84 billion by 2027 with the addition of private and local government funding, thereby establishing a smart energy platform and six other project alongside.

The head of the center said, "With digital and eco-friendly-based manufacturing innovation, the center will promote a project with a goal of creating eco-friendly jobs, forming a innovation foundation and energy independence under the vision of smart green industrial complex leading the city's innovative growth."

In the meantime, the city expects that the transformation of aged Daejeon Industrial Complex into a Smart Green Industrial Complex would make the region become a new growth hub for manufacturing and leading regional job creation.
