IBS to hold two international conferences on virology and planetary science in Daejeon

On July 15, the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) announced that it will hold two IBS conferences in a row to enhance scientific exchanges and international research cooperation.

First of all, the IBS-KAI-KSV Conference on Infection and Immunity, co-hosted by the IBS, the Korean Association of Immunologists (KAI), and the Korean Society of Virology (KSV), will be held at the Daejeon Convention Center on July 17-19.

About 20 world-class scholars in the fields of virology and immunology will participate as speakers, including renowned virologist Yoshihiro Kawaoka, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States, and new virus expert YI Guan, a professor at the University of Hong Kong.

Then, the IBS Conference on Planetary Science and Space Exploration, organized by the IBS Climate and Earth Sciences Research Group, will be held at the IBS Science and Culture Center in Daejeon on July 22-25.

The conference invites 12 speakers from 10 countries, including the United States, Russia, and Germany, to share research trends and information in space science fields including terrestrial planets and gas giants, atmospheric dynamics and composition, and the solar system.
