According to Yonhap News,

On August 6, Daejeon-si announced that it signed "Carbon Neutrality Green Partnership" MOU with Lotte Chilsung Beverage and CNCITY Energy to establish the infrastructure for bioenergy production, supply, and usage.

The MOU was prepared to pursue "2050 Carbon Neutrality" and cooperate on supply and use of 4.5 million ㎥ of bioenergy, the clean renewable energy generated during the process of disposing of domestic waste.

The city will work on operating and improving the efficiency of landfill and bioenergy centers, supporting carbon neutrality of local companies. CNCITY Energy will install and manage the pipes exclusively for safe and efficient supply of bioenergy.

Lotte Chilsung Beverage will cooperate for 2050 Carbon Neutrality in the region by converting its heat source in product manufacturing to bioenergy, so that it could reduce the use of fossil fuels, the main cause of greenhouse gases.

Daejeon-si explained that converting the heat source of product manufacturing to bioenergy by Lotte Chilsung Beverage will have an effect of reducing about 5,000 tons of greenhouse gas annually, which is the same as supplying 5,000 electrical vehicles or planting two million 10-year-old trees.
