According to Yonhap News,

Daejeon Zero 0'cock Festival, held in August, attracted more than 2 million visitors, producing an economic effect of KRW 400 billion.

On August 22, Daejeon-si announced that more than 2 million (estimate) visited the festival, held in areas of Jungang-no Street on August 9-17.

This is nearly two time more than the 1.1 million visitors, who came to the festival last year.

According to the analysis of residence, Daejeon citizens accounted for 55.7%, while visitors from other regions accounted for 44.3%.

The economic effect from this festival is estimated to be about KRW 403.3 billion.

Of them, the direct effect is KRW 112.3 billion, and the indirect effect on the local industry is KRW 291 billion.

The queues at nearby restaurants were endless, and some stores recorded daily sales of as much as KRW 30 million.

There were 1,367 traffic complaints received during the festival, down 129 from that of last year.

The city reckoned that it made an accident-free festival by assigning 875 safety personnel in case of emergency, having 119 paramedics ready all the time, and operating AI control system to manage crowd density.

The city also said that the awareness of the city of Daejeon increased thanks to the festival, with 7,400 festival-related SNS posts uploaded.

Daejeon's mayor said, "we will make the next year's festival better by enhancing the competitiveness of the content and making up for shortages founded this year," adding that "we've secured a foundation for Daejeon Zero 0'cock Festival to become a global festival."
