(CHUNCHEON=NEWSIS) Gangwon Province plans to promote tourist attractions in its four counties through China's CCTV7.

The state-owned CCTV7 is one of the major broadcasters in China and boasts more than 1 billion viewers. The national TV station is actively supported by the Chinese government to reduce the growing disparity between urban and rural areas and address issues in agricultural communities.

The filming is scheduled to be conducted in July and September with a theme of introducing charms of Gangwon and aired to Chinese viewers through a travel show. The show will feature tourist attractions, local food, and tourist activities in Wonju, Sokcho, Jeongseon, and Yangyang.

Ganwon Province and the four counties collaborated for the filming project and jointly invited the Chinese broadcaster.

The province hopes the project with a major television network helps boost local tourism in the run-up to the 2018 Winter Olympics which will be held in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province.
