Hongchun Selected as Nation's First Back-to-farm Town

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) Hongchun county of Gangwon Province will be a rural town for returning farmers or first-time farmers migrating from cities, the first in the nation.

Hongchun county plans to develop a special zone for incoming farmers into four areas with different functions on a site of 1,140,000㎡.

Total of KRW 24.2 billion will be injected through 2020,funded by the central and local government.

As the first step, the county will build needed infrastructure and provide education programs, telemedicine services, farming training, and other support programs to help farmers settle down without inconveniences.

The county expects the project will draw 7,400 residents over the next 5 years, creating economic impact of KRW 222 billion.
