According to Yonhap News,

(SOKCHO=Yonhap News) The country's eastern port city of Sokcho has been chosen as the venue for an annual meeting of Korean female leaders at home and abroad next year, a city official said Wednesday.

"The 18th Korean Women's International Network (KOWIN) will be held for a four-day run in Sokcho at the end of August next year," the official said, adding that the gender equality ministry and Gangwon Province will jointly organize the event with the city, 213 km east of Seoul.

Launched in 2001, KOWIN is designed to raise national competitiveness and local development by bolstering solidarity and exchanges between local and overseas female leaders and nurturing future female resources.

Some 500 women, including 200 internationals from 30 countries, are expected to attend the 2018 meeting, which will provide seminars, forums, panel discussions and cultural tours, according to the official.

This year's KOWIN conference is scheduled to open in Gunsan, 274 km south of Seoul, from Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
