Public Institutions Sign to Relocate to Chuncheon's Hakgok District

(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) It seems Chuncheon's Hakgok District Development Project has gotten back on track.

The city announced July 31 that Gangwon Fire Headquarters, Korea Land and Geospatial Information Corporation Gangwon Headquarters, and Korea Transportation Safety Authority's Gangwon branch have all signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on relocating to the new Hakgok District.

While Chuncheon Office of Education is year to sign an MoU, it is also currently engaged in discussions on relocation, explained the city.

With the addition of these public institutions, the Hakgok District Urban Development Plan is set to transform the area into a administrative center surrounded by residential and commercial buildings.

A total of soe KRW 130 billion will be injected into the project, with construction scheduled to end in 2019.
