According to Yonhap News,

(PYEONGYANG=Yonhap News) About 2,000 restaurants in Pyeongchang and its neighboring areas have been providing multi-language menus for foreign visitors ahead of February's PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

By the end of November, the Gangwon Provincial Government will spend 2 billion won (US$1.8 million) to help restaurants in PyeongChang and other Olympic venues create menus mostly in three languages -- English, Japanese and Chinese.

Also, the provincial government has helped them set up English-language signboards and purchase sanitary products.

Restaurants are one of the key areas of preparation ahead of the games and will be of major importance to spectators.

When the first test event for the PyeongChang Games was held in February 2016, most foreign visitors had difficulty in ordering food or finding restaurants due to a lack of multi-language menus and English-language signboards.

Park Kyung-ae, a 59-year-old owner of a restaurant in Gangneung for 26 years, one of the venues of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, recently created multi-language menus.

"I had been worried about crowds of foreign guests when the Olympic Games begins, but I was somewhat relieved (due to the multi-language menus)," Park said.

An official at the Gangwon Provincial Government said it will spare no effort to allow foreign tourists to enjoy the taste of the province during the Olympic Games.
