According to Yonhap News,

(PYEONGCHANG=Yonhap News) Food experts and company officials gathered in PyeongChang on Monday to discuss a sustainable food future and share the latest industry trends at a global food forum, Korea's agriculture ministry said.

Global Food Summit kicked off at Yongpyong Resort in PyeongChang for a two-day run on the sidelines of the Winter Olympics, which runs through Feb. 25, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said.

Rasmus Egendal, deputy director of the government partnership division at the United Nations World Food Program, delivered a keynote speech, which was followed by presentations on the latest trends in the food industry, smart farm technology and sustainable diets in the future.

Rice cakes and cookies made of edible insects will showcase how traditional cuisine can be combined with emerging food ingredients, the ministry said. Local artisans will present how to make traditional Korean liquor to those attending the gathering.

In addition, the ministry will operate "K-Food Plaza" in PyeongChang during the Olympic period to introduce traditional dishes, ingredients and utensils as well as the representative cuisines of Gangwon Province.
