(DONGHAE=Yonhap News) Donghae City will host 2 international, 18 national and 17 local sports events this year as the result of the city's active sports marketing efforts.

The international events will include the 2018 East Asian Women's Hockey Championship Cup in May and the 4th International Sambo FIAS Cup in September. National events will include the 2018 Donghae SBS male and female professional bowling tournament and 61st National Category Hockey Championships.

Local events will include the 2nd Gangwon Province Presidential Shooting Contest, the 2018 Gangwon Province Association Archery Competition plus 17 others. Additional events are also being negotiated.

The city has set a target of KRW 30 billion in profits from sports events this year to stimulate the local economy.

As a result, the city's sports marketing activities have been in full gear and the Sports Council and the member organizations plan to cooperate to take full advantage of the well-equipped sports facilities.

Donghae City will actively market the city's sports infrastructure, temperate climate, various foods and plentiful lodgings to attract national and local sports events as well as training camps.

Donghae Mayor Shim Gyu-Un stated, "We will be active in sports marketing this year to attract various events that will serve as an axis of regional economic growth. At the same time, we will work to re-brand the city and transform it into a luxurious city."
