According to Yonhap News,

(YANGYANG=Yonhap News) Yangyang-gun (county), Gangwon-do, will adopt a 5-year basic plan for tourism promotion in order to establish the county's brand.

On April 30, the county announced the need for a new strategy under the rapidly changing state of the country and the global tourism industry as evidenced by the successful 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, opening of the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway, Inter-Korean summit, the end to Chinese term limits and Japan's new tourism policies.

As such, Yangyang plans to execute a 5-year plan for tourism promotion and extend professional agency services from this year to 2023.

Gangwon-do plans to review success case studies of similar regions in the areas of natural resources, historical and cultural resources, rural agricultural tourism resources, festivals and cultural/sporting events.

The province also plans to conduct a 2-part survey with 1000 visitors who are over 15 years old about the purpose of their visit, lodging, consumption, satisfaction and more.

Based on the results of the survey, the province will be able to predict the specific needs of tourists and come up with a comprehensive model for tourism development.

The province will also come up with a slogan and character to establish its brand for tourists and initiate festivals for all four seasons.
