On June 10, Chuncheon City announced 437 companies signed up to participate in the GTI International Trade&Investment Expo 2018, exceeding the original goal of 350 companies.

Gangwondo's promising SMEs in food, bio and medical device SMEs and startups make up the majority of the participating companies.

Some foreign firms may also participate this year.

The province expects 200 foreign firms to participate by the end of July this year.

This year's GTI expo will also host major overseas economic organizations such as the China Enterprise Confederation, Chinese Korean Entrepreneurs Association, World Federation of Korean Association of Commerce, Korean Residents Union in Japan.

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. and other professional organizations will work together to recruit domestic and overseas buyers.

The province is planning to invite various participants by industry and country to ensure a substantial and beneficial event.

The 6th annul GTI expo will be held at Donghae City's sports complex from September 13 to 16.

More than 1,000 overseas buyers including those from GTI member countries Korea, China, Russia, Mongolia and Japan as well as more than 10,000 buyer tour groups from all over the world will participate in the upcoming event.

The event will provide startups with market evaluations for product quality improvement and medium-sized export companies with opportunities to develop new export markets through 1 on 1 meetings with prospective buyers.

The expo will also feature the Korea, China and Japan Winter Olympic Games Regional Forum, The World Korean Business Convention, Outstanding Women CEOs in Northeast Asia Convention and consultations with domestic MDs.

The province hopes to establish a bridgehead for export for its regional companies by providing joint venture opportunities to Northeast Asian entrepreneurs.

Also, the province will promote the regional economy to more than 10,000 domestic and overseas buyer tour groups.

With the opening of the KTX line, the province will operate a Chuseok Marketplace in metropolitan areas, offering discount sales and various tasting events.

During the event, there will also be a 3-part night time event (night market, night sales, night performances).

Participants will be able to enjoy regional specialty foods daily at the night market and enjoy performances.
