On June 15, Chuncheon City reported that the number of foreign visitors to the Soyanggang Skywalk from the beginning of this year to May was 12,677.

This is 32% (3,092 people) higher than last year's 9,585.

The number of foreign visitors by month totaled 1,186 for January, 1,459 for February, 2,543 for March and 2,526 for May.

If this trend continues, the tourist attraction will see more foreign visitors than last year's 19,000 annual visitors.

Most of the tourists are from the Southeast Asian countries of Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Chuncheon City spent KRW 6 billion to build the Soyanggang Skywalk, which opened in July 2016 and attracted more than 1 million tourists in its first year.

The 156m skywalk is transparent, so visitors can see the Soyanggang right under their feet.

So far, the accumulated number of visitors, up to the end of May, is 1.477 million.

Of these visitors, about 95% are foreigners and 80% are paying visitors.

Chuncheon city is currently testing the recently-built musical laser light system near the skywalk.
