According to Yonhap News,

(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Gangwon-do will use KRW 91.5 billion by 2021 to create 4,400 new jobs for youth.

The province hopes to create suitable jobs for youth in regions experiencing a serious population decline and youth outflow.

Over the next 4 years, KRW 44.8 billion in national expenditure, KRW 13.7 billion in provincial expenditure and KRW 33 billion in municipal expenditure will go towards the program.

Staring from July, KRW 8.3 billion will go towards 32 projects.

The province will initially focus on regional settlement support projects.

This includes providing annual salaries for newly-employed youth (KRW 24 million per person) and training costs (KRW 3 million per person, per year).

From H2 of this year to H1 of next year, the province will invest KRW 2.7 billion towards 200 youth within the province.

One of the projects will establish a startup investment ecosystem for youth and provide startups with KRW 15 million as initially funding every year for 2 years, as well as KRW 900 million to each startup for remodeling and finding space for business. Chuncheon City and PyeonChang District have been selected to carry out the project in each respective region.

There is also a self-employment project underway to strengthen vocational competencies such as education and training, certification and degree acquisition, employment and start-up consultation and recruitment.

The project will also provide training for childcare providers and cultural tourism commentators.
