The Gangwon International Neo Tourism Advisory Board Launched to Attract Tourists

According to Yonhap News,

(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Gangwon-do Province will launch the Gangwon International Neo Tourism Advisory Board (GITAB) on September 3 at Bears Town Hotel in Chuncheon and host a great debate on neo tourism.

The debate is to discuss on measures to attract overseas tourists by using the PyeongChang Games legacies, and to revitalize tourim by developing tourism product and marketing strategies.

The GITAB is composed of representatives from the organizations such as the Korea Tourism Organization, the Korea Association of Travel Agents and the Asia Inbound Tourism Association, travel agents from Japan, China, Southeast Asia, Europe and America, online travel agents, academia, entertainment agencies and resorts.

Starting with a keynote speech by Sarah Mathews, TripAdvisor's Head of Destination Marketing APAC, the event will be followed by a policy briefing on "Post PyeongChang, Revitalizing Gangwon's Tourism."

The participants to the debate will discuss on developing policies to nurture tourist sites by utilizing the facilities built during the Olympic Games and the awareness, and also measures to expand the contents.

In cooperation with Gangwon Province, the GITAB will play a key role in attracting overseas tourists by establishing an integrated win-win system with the tourism businesses.

"The culture and tourism legacies and the peace that the PyeongChang Games have left are important assets and opportunities for the regional tourism to take a leap forward," said Choi Mun-sun, the governor of Gangwon-do Province, adding, "We will cooperate with organizations related to tourism to pioneer a new path for the regional tourism."
