Gangwon-do announced on October 11 that it signed a contract to export fresh agricultural products made in Gangwon to Russia.

The export contract was signed by Gangneung Agricultural Products Wholsale Market Co. and Avalon LCC Russia in Vladivostok, with the support from Gangwon-do, Gangneung City and KOTRA in order to revitalize export of agricultural products from the Province.

Avalon LCC will import USD 300,000 of fresh agricultural products from Gangwon-do annually and at the same time, promote Gangwon's products and establish a sales network in the Maritime Province. Gangneung Agricultural Products Wholesale Market will guarantee the quality of exported products and pay part of the sales promotion expenses.

The Maritime Province of Siberia has high demand for Korean fresh produce, but if the products are not sold out, it will cost more to spend the remaining products. It is not easy to export agricultural products due to the cost for disposal after the expiration date of the products.

Gangwon-do recognized the need for the establishment of Cold-Chain for small quantity and high frequency so that it can identify issues in exporting their products and improve the system to use DBS route.

If the export volume increases, the capacity of the containers will be increased to 20 ft and 40 ft, and the Province will align with revitalization project of trade ports to secure competitiveness by reducing logistics cost and lowering freight charge.
