Samcheok City announced on October 17 that it was selected as the Eighth Green City 2018 by the Ministry of Environment.

The Green City selected biennially since 2004 to acknowledge excellent local governments in terms of environment management.

Samcheok was not only selected as the Green City but also received a commendation from the Minister and was provided with a reward of KRW 10 million and a sign board. The Ministry of Environment will also continue to provide supports by designating the city as the first considered city in terms of allocating project budget and environment-related assessment project.

Samcheok obtained ISO certification in environmental management and was selected as the excellent local government for environmental-friendly policies and projects that involved participation of the residents.
