The City of Chuncheon announced on November 21 that it will carry out activities to lay the groundwork for Chinese tourists.
As number of Chinese tourists is showing an increase, the City will revitalize tourism in Chuncheon by attracting a large number of Chinese group tourists and carry out promotion activities to dominate the related businesses.
The number of tourists visiting Chuncheon has been increasing steadily this year mainly from Taiwan and Vietnam with 3 percent and 10.9 percent increase respectively, and also from Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
In order to attract Chinese group tourists, the City jointly invited Korean travel agencies targeting Chinese tourists and had a Fam Tour, and also visited China to do promotion activities.
It is organizing a Fam Tour for 20 travel agencies targeting China and Southeast Asia to promote winter tour programs. It is to commercialize new tour resources related to the Olympic legacy and winter ski sports, and Korean drama filming locations.
It will also participate in the 2018 Hainan World Leisure Tourism Exposition to be held from November 23 to 25 in Hainan, China to promote Chuncheon tourism.
It will set up a PR booth to introduce tourist sites and festivals in Chuncheon and have business meetings with local agencies.
