(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Gangwon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (CCEI) announced on February 17 that it will expand its function as an investor in cooperation with the region, and operate various support programs aimed at revitalizing the ecosystem of local enterprises.

Gangwon CCEI set this year's objectives as: identify region-specific technology enterprises; nurture social ventures; support innovative capabilities of SMEs by utilizing new technology; and revitalize regional economy through urban regeneration and digital social revolution.

To expand its role of investment as a public accelerator it will set up a local fund together with private investment fund. In addition, to encourage founding of enterprises in the big data sector, it will establish co-support system with regional innovative organizations.

Also, it will expand cooperative projects with cities and provinces, as well as Gangwon-do to generate jobs for youth.

Gangwon CCEI will have a seminar to brief this year's plan for local SMEs, innovative organizations officials, university students, and would-be entrepreneurs at C-Quare at CCEI center on February 19.
