(SAMCHEOK=Yonhap News) The urban regeneration new deal project for Seongnae and Jeongla Districts in Samcheok-si, Gangwon will commence in earnest.

From this year until 2023, KRW 334.6 billion in total will be injected including KRW 41.2 billion for pump priming project supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation.

The theme of urban regeneration new deal project of Seongnae District is "time travel to the best view in Gwandong Province."

The city plans to establish time and space travel spots, starting from Jukseoru Pavilion, the best view in Gwandong province with a thousand years of history, leading to Daehak-ro.

The main contents of the project is to build an artistic culture street, establish a platform for the youth innovation and improve settlement conditions.

The scale of Jeongla district's urban regeneration new deal project, which is to create a thousand-year SAM(Sea Art Museum) cheok ARTPIA, will amount to about 212,580 square meters.

This place will be filled with space for maritime ecosystem, industrial culture, and lighting art.

An official from Samcheok city said "We will endeavor to improve living environment through urban regeneration new deal projects with unique story-telling and reinvigorate the local community, thereby improving residents' quality of life."
