The World-OKTA Leaders Convention to be held

According to Yonhap News,

(SEOUL=Yonhap News) The "21st World-OKTA Leaders Convention" organized by the World-OKTA, the largest business group of overseas Koreans, will be held at HiOne Resort, Jeongsun, Gangwon-do from April 23 to 26. The Convention will seek measures to help SMEs and young people in Gangwon region to go global.

Hosted jointly by Gangwon province and Yonhap News, the Convention will be a first step for realizing "Together with OKTA, Proud OKTA".

The convention, held for four days until April 26, will be attended by about 1,200 people including 800 members who belong to OKTA's worldwide branches in 147 cities over 74 countries, 50 SMEs from Gangwon province, and those from universities and interested institutions.

The officials from local governments of 18 cities and counties in Gangwon will also participate.

This convention is focused on "Home Coming (win-win with home town)", encompassing economy, society, education, and community service, with the goal of "the first year of realizing win-win and development of regional society in cooperation with local government."

OKTA's chairperson said, "This year's convention will be held with a concept that overseas Korean business people take the leading role for Gangwon's development."

A chairperson of OKTA said, "This Leaders Convention will serve as a venue to expand and develop network between members, as well as putting overseas Korean businessmen in the front-seat of Gangwon's development," explaining that 'this is one of "home-coming events' designed to promote growing together with home country's local regions".

The mayor of Gangwon said, "We expect that this convention will serve as a venue to seek overseas expansion of local companies and overseas job creation opportunities for young people by utilizing OKTA's network and expertise."
