Gangwon aims to lead the hydrogen industry with "International Hydrogen Forum 2019"

(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Ganagwon-do is to hold the "International Hydrogen Forum 2019" for the first time to establish infrastructure for hydrogen energy and develop the industry.

The Forum is held alongside the 2019 Spring Conference of the Korean Hydrogen & New Energy Society and the conference of Fuel Cell Division of the International Energy Agency (IAE) at Alpensia Convention Center, Pyeongchang on May 9-10.

The International Hydrogen Forum is divided into 3 Sessions.

On the first day (May 9), Session 1 and Session 2 are held on the subjects of The Production of Hydrogen and Liquefied Hydrogen Technology and The Water Electrolysis Technology and Demonstration of P2G, followed by Session 3 The Future Technology of Hydrogen on the next day (May 10).

As prior events, special lectures on the subject of safe hydrogen society is scheduled for general public and students, while additional events are also planned including the hydrogen industry exhibit booth, demonstration of hydrogen drone, promotion of hydrogen bus and automobile companies, and industrial site tour.

During the Forum period, four business agreements are also scheduled to develop Gangwon's hydrogen industry, and build Samcheok hydrogen city, among others, participated by hydrogen companies, public organizations, and non-profit foundations.

The province aims to foster the hydrogen industry as a future growth engine by pushing for various projects successfully through the agreements.

A provincial official said, "This forum will be a venue to declare the province's strong will to develop the hydrogen industry and gather experts opinions from various fields" adding that "we plan to hold the Forum every year, hoping it serves as a chance to discuss the trends and future direction for the hydrogen industry--ranging from the production, storage, transportation, and to the utilization of hydrogen."
