(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Port of Sokcho in Gangwon province has become established as a port of call.

On June 17, Gangwon-do Maritime Tourism Center said that it attracted 2 stops, one for 2020 and another for 2021 through Fam Tour of Hapa Llyod cruise shipping company officials.

As a result, 18 stops in total are determined, including 7 for 2019 and 11 for 2020, promising 44,000 cruise tourists to visit Sokcho.

Economic effect is likely to reach KRW 4.57 billion, including KRW 3.4 billion by tourists spending, KRW 900 million in port revenue, and KRW 270 million others such as indirect jobs.

Hapag Llyod cruise is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, and has three ships for traditional cruise and exploration cruise, respectively.
