(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Gangwon province is selected as "excellent" in the review by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) on implementation process of urban generation new deal project, receiving KRW 2 billion of national budget as an incentive.

The province secured KRW 37 billion, 2 billion up from KRW 35 billion originally allocated in the early this year. It can implement projects in more concrete and comprehensive ways.

The province selected Gyeodong district of Chuncheon, and will select three more in September this year.

The province is set to receive revitalization proposals on July 30-August 2, conduct document and on-site review, and make a final evaluation in late August, confirming at urban regeneration committee in late September.

A provincial official said, "To achieve the goal of urban regeneration, such as expansion of SOC and creation of innovation bases, and generation of jobs to improve quality of residents' life, we will keep listening to the voices of residents through city and county urban regeneration support centers, and pursuing customized projects to ensure sustainability."
