(CHUNCHEON=Yonhap News) Gangwon Province goes on roadshow in three countries to promote new routes of Fly Gangwon and winter tourism products.
It will carry out various marketing activities to attract group and individual tourists for winter tourism in three countries including Indonesia (Sep 19), Thailand (Sep 20-22), and Taiwan (Sep 23), major winter tourism markets.
This roadshow, jointly conducted with Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), is participated by 20 or more organizations and companies including: Gangneung, Hongcheon, and Pyeongchang cities and provinces; nine ski resorts including Alpensia and
Yongpyeong; and hotels and Gangwon tourism agencies.
The Province is to hold business partnering (B2B), tourism seminar, and media briefing, among others for the local tourism
industry including tourism agencies and media.
On September 19, it holds Gangwon International Travle Mart (GITM) in Jakarta, Indonesia, which is emerging as new winter
tourism.
On September 20-22, it will promote winter tourism in Thailand, which occupies high ranking on the list of winter-season
tourists, together with Fly Gangwon-which adds new routes to Thailand this winter-ski resorts, and dedicated tourism
agencies.
In particular, it will sign an MOU with Channel 7, a key player in the terrestrial channels, on attracting drama shooting in
Gangwon Province to attract tourists and spread the Korean wave.
On September 23, the Province will hold GITM, night of Gangwon tourism in Taiwan, a country that sends the third-largest
number of tourists, following China and Japan.
A Provincial official said, "We will cooperate with KTO, cities and provinces, and ski resort operators to actively carry out
marketing activities such as promotion of winter tourism products, and keep developing stay tourism products."
