Urban rehab new deal program in 8 cities

According to Yonhap News,

CHUNCHEON, Oct 9(Yonhap) -- Eight cities in Gangwon province was chosen as the target of urban development, 2019 new deal project. This plan will be sourced from local taxes for four to five years in addition to the national budget of KRW 95 billion in an effort to improve living conditions in residential areas and reinvigorate commercial district within the targeting place.

With a consulting service to the potential recipients, the province has contributed a lot to the regional development by securing national budget allocation worth KRW 2,240 billion for three years since the very beginning of the plan to push for the urban rehabilitation.

Particularly, the city of Wonju who first adopted digital technology so called 'smart service' to turn the place into 'smart city' can be provided with extra incentives, KRW 3 billion.

The head of the province says "We're now speeding up the administrative process to accomplish visible outcome that everyone can feel. I hope that the rehab plan can turn the economy dynamic while improving the quality of life for many residents here."
