Gangwon Promotes Tourism and Investment with Malaysia

Governor of Gangwon Province Choi Moon-soon will visit Kuala Lumpur and state of Malacca today to meet Malaysian government officials, Korean businessmen and potential investors. He plans to discuss measures to facilitate cultural and tourism exchanges, promote investment in Gangwon Province and look for ways to help Korean companies entering the Malaysian market.

Governor Choi will also meet the governor of Malacca to exchange views on cooperative measures for tourism and culture.

He will also introduce changes in Gangwon Province’s investment environment to Korean businessmen and potential investors in Malaysia to promote investment in the province’s projects, including the East Sea Free Economic Zone and Alpensia.

With high-level government officials, Governor Choi will request cooperation for establishment of a tourism office and discuss issues those related to tourism, environment and investment.

Governor will suggest cooperative measures for tourism, culture and sports exchanges between local governments and introduction of a new flight route between Yangyang and Kuala Lumpur.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation and exchanges will be signed between the Gangwon Province and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia during the governor’s visit.

A Gangwon official noted that the visit will serve as an opportunity to facilitate investment promotion and help Korean companies to enter overseas markets by diversifying cooperation with other countries, adding that practical exchanges are expected with the MOU.
