The Nangman Market in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province was named as one of the tourists spots to visit by the Korea Tourism Organization.
To facilitate regional economy by distributing foreign visitors to regions, the Korea Tourism Organization named the Nangman Market as a must-visit place.
Gangwon province suggested to the Korea Tourism Organization to designate markets as tourist destinations last April, following Gwangjang Market’s big success in Seoul attracting foreign visitors.
The Korea Tourism Organization held a comprehensive review on markets based on association with nearby tourist attractions, market size and uniqueness. It also held on-site inspections to name four must-visit markets including Chuncheon’s Nangman Market.
To attract foreign visitors, Gangwon Province and the Korea Tourism Organization are developing promotional pamphlets in English, Japanese and Chinese to provide to foreign travel agencies.
The pamphlets have a map, categorized store details and prices to provide rich information for foreigners visiting Korea.
A Gangwon official noted that the province will closely cooperate with the Korea Tourism Organization and Chuncheon merchants association to provide products in association with the Nangman Market to attract more foreign visitors and facilitate the regional economy.
