According to Yonhap News,

Korea Institute of Energy Research, KIER, said on Jun 25 that the agency has embarked on research work to examine whether a municipal project to build out industry base to accommodate what’s called a “hydrogen energy town” in the city of Samcheok is commercially valid.

The project describes that Samcheok city, an R&D hub of hydrogen economy, forms a residential town, powered by renewables and hydrogen sources by the end of 2023, with national funds of KRW 16.6 billion. The community, under the envisaged plan, has a metal hydride hydrogen storage system, applying non-mechanical compressor technology to secure larger capacity, lowering noise and vibration.
