(CHUNCHEON = Newsis) Chuncheon-si announced on February 6 that its local industrial complexes have shown a substantial amount of growth.

According to an announcement by the city, gross product and the number of employees of the industrial complex has nearly doubled for the last three years, and number of complexes rose from six to 11. The number of companies in the complexes also posted an increase by 81, to 332.

Gross product rose by 78 percent from KRW 537.1 billion in 2010 to KRW 950.5 billion. The dramatic increase of gross product was triggered by the operation of a new industrial complex in the region. The city recorded gross product of KRW 780 billion in 2011, and KRW 790 billion in 2012.

The number of employees was also substantially increased by 104 percent compared to the same period in 2010. A total of 3,047 employees were hired in 2010, 4,180 in 2011 and 4,682 in 2012.

Official value of exports in 2013 was USD 68.15 million, up by 112 percent from USD 32.21 million in 2010.
