Gangwon University Opens Data Analysis Center

(CHUNCHEON = Yonhap News) Gangwon University opened a data analysis center to take the leading role in fostering the data-based industry.

The university held the opening ceremony for its data analysis center today. The attendants of the ceremony included Kim Sang-pyo, Gangwon Vice-Governor of Economy, Park Heung-soo, CEO and President of Gangwon Information & Multimedia Corporation, and Lee Hyeon-sik, official of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.

Since it was selected for the open-type ICT convergence support project by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning last November, the university has opened new faculties that are designated to foster “data scientists” who are specialized in data analysis.

By operating the data analysis center, the province expects that it will be able to efficiently manage the training process and maximize its results.

Duzon (CEO: Kim Yong-woo), DQ (President: Kim Hyun-gab) also decided to participate in the project, raising expectations of enhanced academic-industrial cooperation.

Also, the university plans to conclude an agreement with the National Information Security Agency to secure infrastructure for the data analysis.
