Gangwon Province Establishes Tourism Marketing Strategy for Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics

(DAEGU=NEWSIS) Gangwon Province plans to promote a special tourism marketing strategy for the increased demand during the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics to positively affect the region’s cities and guns.

The Province carried out working-level meetings with the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) for implementing the basic strategy on August 14. The Province plans to conduct a pilot project of selling tourism products that are targeted at China, Japan and Russia.

The Province also aims to commercialize the Olympic products for domestic and foreign tourists to brand the Gangwon tourism by 2017.

The Province will establish 11 tailored tasks in three sectors so that all cities and guns in the region can benefit from the tourism marketing.

The Province pointed out that the cooperation with the tourism agencies will be the key to the success of the strategy. Therefore, the Province plans to hold meetings with relevant organizations to establish detailed plans to promote the project.
